There is considerable information on this web site, but please contact us about any aspect of the Host Family role, particularly if you have not hosted students before. It can be very rewarding to provide a “home from home” to a student thousands of miles away from their parents.
Apply
You can apply online or download an Application Form, complete it and scan / email or send back to us by post. Upon receipt we will acknowledge, and forward to the Regional Coordinator responsible for your area.
Visit
The Regional Coordinator will contact you within a few days to discuss your application, and this is an opportunity to ask any further questions. They will also make an appointment to come and visit you at your house. During your appointment the Regional Coordinator will review your application, discuss and give you some training on hosting an international student, including safeguarding, and provide a comprehensive Host Handbook. The Coordinator will view the accommodation and is also required to access documentation for your full accreditation.
Documents
The main steps for full accreditation are:
Property Documents: Insurance, and Gas Safety Certificate.
DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) for members of the household aged 16 or over. For a new BDS check, ID and proof of address is needed.
Two references, one from a professional.
Host Contract to be signed and returned.
Complete
The Host Contract is signed and returned, with DBS and references finalised. We will notify you that your accreditation is complete and your application will be registered as LIVE on our database.
Host
Hurray! We have a student for you! Your Administration Manager based at Quest HQ will contact you to check on your availability for the required dates. We will make all the arrangements, agree the transfers from school (and return) and the completed arrangement will be confirmed via email and post directly from our secure database.
On the Arrival Day your student may be slightly apprehensive to start. There are tips on hosting in the Host Handbook, but if you have any concerns contact us at the office, or we have an Emergency Phone Line available 24 hours per day.
